January Favorites

A lot has been happening here at our house. I am a little obsessed with taking pictures, especially of Miss Emily. Here are my favorites.

So the other day Miss Emily comes running up too me and says "Fire!". I freak out and ask her to show me where. She takes me downstairs and shows me her little people all sitting around the fireplace. I think I had a little mommy heart attack with that one, but I laughed too.

Miss Emily has also loved her building blocks and we try to make them taller and taller. We are getting close.

After a horrible wind storm we had a little cleaning up to do in our front yard. A lot more tumbleweed than we thought. It was literally like hunting for Easter eggs. We had a blast.

{album review}

Today on iTunes Radio Switchfoot's new albumn Fading West is free to stream. I am LOVING it. I've been a fan of Switchfoot for years so I have that love to fall back on, but even if I hadn't heard of them I'd be into them. It's my style I guess. So what's my style? I like anything that is fun, happy, and layed back. I like to rock, but I'm more happy with an album that I can just sit and listen to. If an album can get me to dream than it's pretty awesome because I have a hard time letting myself relax. As I am listening to the album right now I can't help but think about cutting out of work and driving with the windows down enjoying life. If I was near the coast I'd be driving to the beach. It's funny that the cover is shot at the beach because that's where I want to be right now.  Saltwater Heart speaks perfectly to this dream. Anyone want to go with me?

Tutorial Sneak Peek

On Sundays Miss Emily gets a donut at church. She talks about it all week. When we finally get to church she is so excited that she runs into the Fellowship Hall screaming "Donuts! Yes!" I wonder if she'll be like this her whole life.

A tutorial on how to make this cute picture collage is coming soon.

Cold Sunday in January

Since it was so cold out I basically spent the afternoon in bed under warm covers. I wasn't sleepy so I jumped onto my favorite site, Pinterest. No surprise I'm sure.

The only thing wrong with Pinterest is if you're in a mood or you're too full from lunch to think about food. I shouldn't have gotten on Pinterest because I saw this...

Really?!?!?!?!? Adorable outfit and I can totally see myself wearing it, but it reminds me that I'm so ready for summer. I really dislike having to wear so many layers that you have to carry around with you. My husband says he loves winter because you can always put more clothes on, but in summer you can't take any more off. I don't know. We have agreed to just disagree on this.

Did I mention that it's 15 degrees outside. Boo! I will try not to ccomplain because it could be worse and I did choose to live here.

I hope your Sunday is turning out great!

Project Life Using Studio Calico

Several months ago I stumbled across the company Studio Calico. They do monthly box subscriptions targeting scrapbooking, card making, and project life crafters. I was immediately intrigued so I subscribed just to their list serve so I could learn more about it. After googling and watching YouTube I have learned just how neat these kits can enhance and bring your scrapbooking to life. I had always wondered how the Pinterest pins I added always looked so precessional, well this is how it's done and it's super easy.

Right now Studio Calico is running a great special for anyone wanting to join. If you subscribe you can get last months kits for FREE. That's a $24.99 savings. After much debate I snapped this deal up this morning. I have been thinking about it and just bit the bullet. In their subscription details it says I can cancel at any item if I am unsatified. That seems like a fair deal to me.

The offer is good through 1/26/2014 so don't wait because they do sell out and you'll have to wait until subscriptions open up again. I should say this is not advertising, this is me getting supper excited. I want all my friends to get excited too. If you're interested you can access his deal through this link

Studio Calico has a reward system for purchasing items and friend referrals. If you're interested in the system please show your love by going through my link. I would appreciate the love tremendously.

Here is a view of the kits you could pick up this month.

Cooper Mountain is the newest kit for January 2014. It comes with everything you see below.
The free kit is called Blue Note.

At check out you can place "add-ons" into your basket. I snagged a few extra things including these mini chalkboard scripture verses that fit 3x4 pockets on your Project Life pages. I am going to love these.

I see lots of fun scrapbooking in me near future. I can't wait.

January 2013 update

So far 2013 hasn't started off quite as I expected. Just before the new year I got very energized to start blogging. My new year goals included being more creative and documenting it along the way. Well....a few road blocks jumped up that's slowed me down.

As many have probably already experienced, the flu and sickness has hit the USA really bad this season. It seems stronger than normal. I (knock on wood) haven't been hit, but just today it hit my daughter. Poor Emily.  :(
[See picture below]

Earlier in the month I had experienced my first gallbladder attach. It was terrible and lasted 12 hrs. I visited with my dr we found no stones but requested a scan be done. I made the appointment and as I was walking in the tech told me I would be drinking a radioactive fluid. Dr said nothing about this so I immediately canceled the appointment. I mean I drove myself to the appointment. What if I didn't react well with my body? I don't know about you, but I didn't want that in my body. I've had time to think about it and if my gallbladder acts up again then I'll do something about it. (I have heard several stories of people living with partially functioning gallbladders or some who have only had one attack their whole life).

So, besides body problems and sickness everything else is going well.

I was able to complete two projects this month, but only posted one. I will work on getting the second up soon.

Thank you for your patience. I hope your January was better than mine.
